  • Daniel E. Andrews III, M.D, F.A.C.C. CEO / CAO / Instructor

    Daniel E. Andrews III, M.D., F.A.C.C. who is the CEO and CAO of The Napa Valley School of Massage, has an extensive background in Oriental and Western Massage techniques. His interest in massage stems from a family history of massage practitioners, with his paternal grandmother receiving her massage training from the Chicago School of Massage in 1938.


    He is a physician and is double board certified in both interventional cardiology and internal medicine. As a physician, he has an extensive background in anatomy and physiology as well as massage therapy techniques.
    Dr. Andrews is the president and founder of Pinewood Karate. He has received martial art and massage certifications in the Orient from organizations in Hong Kong and Japan. He was awarded a certificate in Acupressure Massage and First Aid by the Hong Kong Naturopathy Association in February 1990. On August 11, 1992, Mas Oyama awarded Dr. Andrews a teaching certificate in Kyokushin Karate. Dr. Andrews also trained for several years in Eagle Claw Kung Fu and received extensive instruction in Chinese Massage Techniques from Gini Lau, the daughter of Eagle Claw's late Grand Master, Lau Fat Man. Dr. Andrews has also received instruction in Danzan Ryu Jujitsu massage techniques from the late Professor Sig Kufferath who was a 10th degree and Danzan Ryu's highest teacher.

  • Laurie Andrews, J.D. COO / Instructor

    Laurie Andrews has been studying yoga including the meditation, breathing and massage techniques for nearly 40 years. She has studied yoga under Ulrika Engman and Rose Feinstein. Rose lived to 104 years old and had the distinction of being America's oldest yoga teacher.


    Laurie is the co-founder of both the Heart & Health Center and Pinewood karate. She is a third degree black belt and holds a teaching credential in the Pinewood Karate system.
    She is a graduate of the University of Tulsa College of Law with a Juris Doctor Degree. Laurie has served as the chair and the vice-chair for the Juvenile Justice Commission for Napa County. She has received multiple awards for her dedicated work with youth. She and her husband Daniel live in the Napa Valley.

Job Description of the CEO / CAO

The CEO / CAO of the Napa Valley School of Massage will oversee all activities related to the daily operation of the school. It is this person's responsibility to insure the physical plant and class room space are safe and compatible with an excellent learning experience. Specifically, the CEO insures that the class room is well ventilated with adequate lighting and seating. This person insures that all local building and fire codes are met. In addition, the CAO is responsible for recruiting and screening new applicants. The CEO oversees the work of the instructors to insure the highest quality instruction. Furthermore, the CEO is responsible for awarding certificates to those individuals who have successfully completed the course of instruction.

Job Description of the COO

The COO of the Napa Valley School of Massage is responsible for the financial obligations of the School. This person oversees billing and collections as well as being responsible for accounts payable. The COO will disclose to the Bureau any failure to comply with applicable law, or any evidence of fraud committed by the institution or person connected with the institution in compliance with California Code 73740. The COO is also responsible for scheduling each term. Furthermore, this individual handles the problems that arise in the daily operation of the school. This includes evaluating and resolving all student complaints in accordance with California code 73770. All complaints received will be mailed to the attention of the CEO. Lastly, this individual is designated the Custodian of Records and is responsible for the record keeping of the faculty and student body as required by the statute and regulations for a period of not less than five years.

Job Description of the Instructor

Instructors at The Napa Valley School of Massage teach the art of restorative massage, medical gymnastics, hydrotherapy, hygiene and the underlying principles of anatomy and physiology. Furthermore Instructors oversee student learning and testing.
